The National Holocaust Monument opened last week. The design team includes Studio Libeskind, Claude Cormier + Associés, Lord Cultural Services and Edward Burtynsky. Located near the Canadian War Museum, the new monument is a striking sculptural site with angular shapes in raw concrete.
I knew it was key to photograph the monument from the sky, as it is shaped in a distorted star of David.
Once you get inside the monument, several large murals by Edward Burtynsky bring a lot to the experience. At night, the lighting compliments the monument nicely.
I couldn't resist photographing some detail shots, as the various shapes of the monument create beautiful abstracts.
