Last fall, during my trip to New York City, I absolutely wanted to photograph VIA 57 West. The new building by BIG is a stunning addition to the Midtown Manhattan skyline.
Its pyramidal shape really stands out on the Hudson River. The shape of the building is based on the typology of Copenhagen blocks, which are composed of a rectangular courtyard surrounded by buildings. This is where the hole in the pyramid comes from.
I immediately knew I wanted to shoot from New Jersey to capture the building with the Hudson River and the skyline behind. I went to Weehawken, on the J. F. Kennedy Boulevard, which provides a higher vantage point. Sunset and blue hour were perfect to capture the building.
